Hi everyone! Happy Friday!!
I am excited to share a card with you today that I have created for the Hope You Can Cling To 2011 campaign at Splicoaststampers!
Here is a little about the Hope You Can Cling To 2011 direct from Splitcoaststampers:
Splitcoaststampers is proud to partner with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for our second annual month long card drive to benefit those affected by breast cancer.
Whether your stamps cling to acrylic, wood, or to your hard drive, they hold the power to convey hope and lift the spirits of anyone who sees what you create with them. That is the inspiration for our “Hope You Can Cling To” stamping campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
We are kicking this campaign off on World Card Making Day - a day of celebration of the power of a handmade card. We encourage papercrafters across the globe to put their talents to work creating beautiful handmade cards to send to patients and their families at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, and, in the process, turn our gallery pink!
Many in our community have been affected by breast cancer, directly or indirectly. We would love for each of the patients at the UT MD Anderson cancer center and their families to feel this same encouragement and inspiration and we know this community always rises to a challenge.
There will be special challenges in our Splitcoaststampers Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Forum to inspire you throughout the month, and we will have some fun giveaways, including of course, some pink!
We'll begin the campaign with three challenges on October 1st, and we will have challenges each day in October. So keep watching this space as we approach the exciting kickoff of Hope You Can Cling To!
Amazing right? I am so glad to be a part of this in some small way. My card today is a sample for my sweet friend Bar's Challenge, HYCCT1121...to use two of the same shape on your card! Here is a bit about Bar's challenge in her own words:
Breast cancer isn't picky, it doesn't care what size your ta-tas are--the physical and emotional toll it takes is enormous, regardless. And, although it's rare, it also attacks children. So, when I saw this slogan on a breast cancer awareness sight I knew that was what I wanted to do. Let's "support" them all by using two sizes of any geometric shape on your project: Circles, rectangles, squares, you choose, just use two sizes!
For my card, I started with this week's Sketch Challenge on SCS, SC355. I stamped the darling Pure Innocence Have Hope from My Favorite Things, colored her with Copic Markers and then cut her out. I paper pieced her dress with one of the same patterns used on my card, which are all from the new Free Bird Series by Authentique...Blush and Delight.
I popped her up onto an oval panel that I embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, which I then layered onto a panel cut with the new Oval Decorative Doily Die-Namics...thus, two ovals! In addition to the heart that she is holding, I added another heart (thus, two hearts), cut with the Homespun Birdhouse Die-Namics, as well as a paper button cut with the Button Quartet Die-Namics, to anchor my sentiment, "Have Hope", which was stamped onto a panel cut with the First Place Award Ribbon Die-Namics. I added a border using the Faux Crochet Border Die-Namics to tie it all together.
For the inside, I added some more patterned paper, another border cut with the Faux Crochet Border Die-Namics, as well as another sentiment stamped onto a panel cut with the First Place Award Ribbon Die-Namics, this time using "Praying For A Cure". This is anchored with a double heart (two more hearts!) cut with both the Homespun Birdhouse Die-Namics and the Hearts A Plenty Die-Namics, which happen to layer perfectly together. Sweet!
Here are the Die-Namics I've used on my card:
Now...when you participate in the HYCCT Challenges at SCS, you have a chance at winning some fabulous prizes. In keeping with that spirit, I thought I'd do a little blog candy today! Up for grabs is the sweet PI I used today, Pure Innocence Have Hope AND the new Oval Decorative Doily Die-Namics I used as well! For a chance, simply leave a comment here letting me know if you are participating in the HYCCT challenges at SCS! I will choose a winner on Sunday, October 23, at noon EST and announce the winner here on my blog! Good luck!
Thanks SO much for stopping by!!
