Happy Happy...Joy Joy!!!

Hi everyone!! Happy Wednesday!!! Woo Hoo!!

OK...I am a little excited! My SU! order arrived today and I could not WAIT to dive in and make a card using my new goodies!!!

I made this card for today's Sketch Challenge on SCS, SC215!! I started off with some new GORGEOUS Urban Oasis DSP. For my middle panel, and this is my most FAVORITE part, I used the new Sizzix Texturz on a piece of Baja Breeze!!!! SIDE NOTE: OK...so I read all the forums that you could use these Texturz in the Cuttlebug (I do not have the Big Shot), but that it would not be as crisp as a CB Embossing Folder. Needless to say, I was a tad bit nervous that it wouldn't work....but guess what! The first time, it embossed like a CHAMP!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited about that!! Here is the *sandwich* I used...from the bottom up:
A Plate
Texturz Plate - Harlequin side up
Piece of Baja Breeze Cardstock
Tan Embossing Mat (I use this with my Nesties)
Three pieces of cardboard (I found that the cardboard that comes with the DSP packs is PERFECT for this, but start off with two at first...my Bug gets tons of use and I can accomodate all three...I don't want to be responsible for any broken Bugs or B Plates...like I broke my friend Ann's the other night (blushing)
B Plate
Using this sandwich I achieved a fabulous embossed piece of cardstock!!

Ok...back to my card :) After creating my Harlequin panel, I used a Sponge Dauber with some Baja Breeze Ink and just ran it lightly over the pattern to really make it pop!!

My focal panel is a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and I stamped the flowers from Fifth Avenue Floral in Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss & Basic Grey. I then stamped the sentiment right over the flowers in Basic Black ink.

I finished off the card with the GORGEOUS black ribbon from Valet Ribbon Originals, Two Silver Brads from the Neutrals 5/16 collection (I will NOT hoard these...I will NOT hoard these...), and of course, tons of piercing!!!

I had SO much fun making this card!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!

  6. Fabulous card, Jodi! I love the colors. Thanks for the tip about the embossing plates. I have the Wizard and I haven't been able to get a good impression with SU plates. I have a feeling these are tricky even in the Big Shot because Mary Fish, who ONLY uses SU products, gave a tip of spritzing the paper with water first. I'll have to try both the "shim" technique you used and the water spritzing and see how it goes, but I have a feeling the shim will be the best.
