October MFT Creative Team Challenge - Be Negative!

Hi everyone!  Happy Tuesday!

In 2011, MFT is working harder than ever to inspire you, and we have come up with something we think you'll really enjoy. Our Design Team Creative Challenge is a new monthly feature, where we challenge our design team to explore their creative side using a specific theme, product or technique. This month, we're going to "be negative."

Our designers will show you what you can do with the negative space after you cut out your Die-namics, or the other half of patterned paper, cardstock or felt that is leftover when you're done with your Die-namics! Visit Kim's Blog to see exactly what we've been up to, you'll find a full list of designers that have taken up the challenge!

Unfortunately, I needed a sympathy card for a friend whose Father passed away.  I pulled out the gorgeous Clearly Sentimental About Sympathy and got to work.  This set has the most beautiful, heartfelt sentiments, and it was just what I needed for this card.

I started by taking the Framed Greetings Die-Namics and die cut the shape into a piece of patterned paper, which is all Sunshine from My Favorite Things.  I then added another piece of patterned paper to the bottom and split the two patterns with a border of another pattern, cut with the Simply Scallops Die-Namics.  I added some twill tape, a bit of twine on top of this panel.

I stamped this gorgeous sentiment, "May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead" onto another piece of patterned paper, and then attached it underneath, using the die cut opening as a frame.

I added a cluster of three roses, cut with My Favorite Felt in Puff Cloud White using both the Rolled Rose Die-Namics and Mini Rolled Roses Die-Namics, and added some leaves that I cut with the Flower and Leaf Trio Die-Namics.  Some machine stitching and then added an Antique Brad in each corner.

For the inside I simply added two more sentiments from this set, "For some moments in life there are no words" and then "I am sorry for your loss" underneath.

Here are the Die-Namics I've used on my card:
