Ingenious Inking: Magical MIX-ables!

Hi everyone!  Happy Tuesday!

Welcome to the very first installment of Ingenious Inking, a fabulous new monthly feature from the MFT Design Team!  As we begin our Ingenious Inking journey, we thought it would be fun to show how our line of MIX-ables can be used to alter our Premium Dye Inks, Pigment Inks, and Hybrid Inks to create new looks and applications. MIX-ables make it easy to add sparkle, shine, and glitz to your projects – subtle or bold – it truly is a bit of crafting magic.

I have two cards to share with you today!  For my first card, I used Premium Dye Inks to stencil the pattern and then added shimmer with MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist!

I started by cutting a panel of Smooth White Card Stock using Blueprints 1 Die-namics and added a mat of Smooth White Card Stock cut with Blueprints 2 Die-namics.  I then placed the Large Polka Dots Stencil on top of the panel and sponged on the colors using Summer Splash Premium Dye Ink, Limelight Premium Dye Ink and Lemon Chiffon Premium Dye Ink.  BEFORE removing the stencil, I sprayed the panel using MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist and then let it dry for a few minutes.  I removed the stencil and viola, a gorgeous shimmery background!

I wanted to keep the card simple so as to really let the background shine.  I cut two flags using the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics and Fishtail Flags Layers STAX Die-namics from Natural Card Stock and Lemon Chiffon Prestige Card Stock.  I stamped “BIRTHDAY” from Happy Everything using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink.  I cut out “happy” using the Happy Die-namics from Summer Splash Prestige Card Stock and then added it to the card using Jody Boosters.  I added a trio of rhinestones to finish off the front.

On the inside, I cut another two panels of Smooth White Card Stock using Blueprints 1 Die-namics and Blueprints 2 Die-namics.  I cut a flag of Lemon Chiffon Prestige Card Stock using Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics, and stamped “TIME TO CELEBRATE” from LLD Delicious Birthday using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink.

My second card has a different, bolder look.  I using Hybrid Ink and MIX-ables Steel Shimmer Mist for this card!

The main panel of Black LIcorice Card Stock was cut with Blueprints 1 Die-namics and I added a mat of Smooth White Card Stock using Blueprints 2 Die-namics.  I placed the Square Tiles Stencil on top of the Black Licorice Card Stock panel and sponged on Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  Then, again BEFORE removing the stencil, I sprayed the panel with MIX-ables Steel Shimmer Mist and then let it dry. 

I wanted to use bright colors to pop off the black background, and Ripe Raspberry Prestige Card Stock, Daffodil Prestige Card Stock and Limelight Prestige Card Stock were just the ticket.  The flowers were cut using the Gerbera Daisy Die-namics and the leaves were cut using the Layered Leaves Die-namics.  I cut a panel of Smooth White Card Stock using the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics, and stamped “WISHING YOU A happy birthday” from LJD Spring Tulips using Black LIcorice Premium Dye Ink.  I added this panel to the card with Jody Boosters and then added the flowers, layering the smaller flower on top of the larger, and added the leaves as well.  I finished off the front with a trio of rhinestones.

On the inside, I cut another two panels of Smooth White Card Stock using Blueprints 1 Die-namics and Blueprints 2 Die-namics.  I added a strip of the Black Licorice Card Stock panel that I stenciled, and then stamped “enjoy your special day” from Birthday Greetings using Ripe Raspberry Premium Dye Ink.
