5 Days To An Organized Crafty Stash – Day Three: Die-namics!

Hi everyone!  Happy Wednesday!

We are still going over on the MFT Blog with TONS of crafty organization!  Today, it’s all about Die-namics!

To store my Die-namics, I start by cutting the tabs of each set when I get them using the Steel Snips.  The Die-namics sets that come with multiple pieces are often attached, and the Steel Snips make quick work of separating them.  I place all of my Blueprints Die-namics and larger Die-namics sets into Large Clear Storage Pockets,  to which I add a panel of Smooth White Card Stock.  I label each set using an inexpensive Brother Label machine.

All of the smaller Die-namics sets, and most of the STAX Die-namics go in the Small Clear Storage Pockets which I also lined with Smooth White Card Stock.

Here you can see a Die-namics set with many pieces and how they are safe and sound in the Small Clear Storage Pockets!

I keep all of my Die-namics housed in two Fridge Binz, which is what Jennifer McGuire uses.  I saw this storage system on her blog and was inspired to introduce the same for my Die-namics.  I used Berrylicious Card Stock to create dividers to separate my Die-namics into catagories.  I add labels to the dividers using the same label maker as I use to label my Die-namics.  This bin contains the following categories: STAX, Centerpieces, Pure Innocence, Doilies, Flowers, Rolled Flowers, Boxes/3-D Elements, Blueprints, Cover Ups and Borders.

The second Fridge Binz houses Alphabets, Stamp Set Companion sets and all other sets.  Each Die-namics within a category is filed alphabetically so that I can easily find the one I am looking for.  This system works SO well for me, and I specifically keep these Fridge Binz on a shelf on my Expedit where they are easily accessible.

If you’ve seen my blog before, you probably know that I use Blueprints Die-namics on each and every card I create.  I keep the largest die-namics from Blueprints 1 Die-namics, Blueprints 2 Die-namics, Blueprints 5 Die-namics, Blueprints 6 Die-namics and Blueprints 13 Die-namics, which are the ones I use the most, on hooks right above my desk.  This way, when I am constructing a card, I just reach for the one I want to use.

I keep a basket with extra Large Clear Storage Pockets and Small Clear Storage Pockets ready to go, with the Smooth White Card Stock inserts already in, along with my label maker (and my heat gun…pretty random lol) in the middle shelf of my Ikea Raksgog cart.  When I get new Die-namics, I simply pull my cart over and start to organize them.  I usually enlist the help of my oldest (she is 8), she loves to organize just as much as her mama.

Here you can see my Expedit Unit…the second set of shelves house my Die-namics and stamps…it’s the perfect height to stand and search for what I want to use!

  5. I like how you store your dies, and am drawn to the blueprint dies you use the most. This is something I want to do, but how do you know which size of the Blueprint "rectangle" you want to use? Using all the Blueprints "rectangles", there's no need to cut out the layers by hand.

  9. Love those Fridge bins. Nice little tidbit of info about how you start your cards. Now I have to go see what large dies from the blueprints you keep out. Thanks for that tip.
