I Love My MJ!

Hi everyone!  Happy Tuesday!

Today, some of the MFT gals have gotten together for our April Design Team Creative Challenge...and this month it's For The Kids!!

As soon as I saw this challenge, I knew just what I wanted to do!  Meredith is in LOVE (just like her Mom!) with the new Flapper Doodles set, Hold Me Tight from My Favorite Things.  When I was creating my card for this month's Teasers, she told me that it was her favorite stamp ever.  Too cute!  I knew I had to make her a card with this sweet set!

Rather than making her just a card, I thought it would be sweet to create a bookmark card.  This was SO very simple to create!  I started by stamping this image and coloring it with Copic Markers.  I then cut it into a thin strip and, using the edge of the largest die in the Die-Namics Sweet Stack, I created a fancy edge for the top.  (Note:  I stuck my embossing pad under the lower portion of the die so that it would only cut the top of my bookmark as opposed to the entire shape.)

I paper pieced the dresses on both of these cuties with the same patterned paper I used on the rest of the card, Stella & Rose Gertie from My Minds Eye.  I stamped the sentiment, "I love my" from Hold Me Tight on the top of the bookmark, omitting the "mom" portion.   Then, using the new Typewriter Alphabet, along with the AMAZING new Die-Namics Fishtail Banner Die, created a little banner that says "M.J", which is our nickname for Meredith.  Thanks to samples during Teasers from Jody and Joanne, I now have a new use for the ENORMOUS stash of eyelets I have...thanks girls!

I created a little vellum pocket for the bookmark to sit in and I used my Die-Namics Simply Scallops Die to create a little extra interest.  Some Baker's Twine wraps it up.   I added a bow to the top of the bookmark which I adorned with a fun flower detail.  I created it with the Die-Namics Pretty Posies Die and the center with the Die-Namics Button Quartet Die.  Tons of machine stitching, some silver snaps and a row of vellum scallops complete the front.

For the inside of the card, I changed up the sentiment again.  I stamped the sentiment from Hold Me Tight, "Home is where my mom is", but I once again omitted the "mom".  Instead, using the Typewriter Alphabet, added in "MJ" instead.  A simple heart from Hold Me Tight completes the sentiment.  LOVE how that turned out!!!

Some more patterned paper, vellum scallops, Baker's Twine and stitching complete the inside.  I've already given this to my little M.J., and when she opened it, she said, very seriously, "Oh Mommy...I just love this!".  Pretty cute for an almost 5 year old right?

Here are the Die-Namics I've used on my card today:
