MFT Design Team - February Creative Challenge!

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!

It's time for the MFT Design Team Creative Challenge!  The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product or technique.

This month, we were challenged to create clean and simple projects, without the use of any patterned paper (gasp!).  I had ALOT of fun  with this challenge, and I have three cards to share with you today!

I've recently taken the Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 2 class, and I LOVED every minute of it.  I really learned alot and was SO excited to apply some of my new knowledge on the cards for this month's challenge!

First up, my favorite card of all three.  I started with a card base of Kraft Cardstock, and I stamped the sentiment, "We Just Click", from Laina Lamb Designs Document It - Captured Memories, in Black Licorice Ink.  I first embossed it with white embossing powder, but I lost alot of the detail so I just stamped it (does embossing powder go bad?  I think I need to get some new ones).

Using the FABULOUS Accent It Cute Cameras Die-Namics (which I LOVE), I cut a camera from Black Licorice Cardstock.  I coated the "lens" with Glossy Accents, and then cut a small piece of Sweet Tooth Cardstock for the photo coming out of the camera.

Here are the MFT goodies I've used on this card:

My next card is all about the love.  Again, I started with a Kraft base, and then added a Sweet Tooth panel.  I cut the circle with the Circle STAX 1 Die-Namics and then embossed another with the Circle STAX 2 Die-Namics for interest.  I popped up the Sweet Tooth panel with Jody Boosters.

Using Wild Cherry Felt (my favorite!), I cut a heart using the Rustic Hearts Die-Namics.  I added some rhinestones scattered around.  I stamped the sentiment, "I love you!", from Homespun Hearts, in Black Licorice Ink and molded my stamp to fit the curve of the circle.

Here are the MFT goodies I've used on this card:

My last card was based on a sketch from the Clean and Simple 2 Class.  Once again, I went with a Kraft and White look, and the card base is Kraft.  Using Kraft Ink Refill, I put a few drops onto a palette, added some water, and then, with a paintbrush, coated the bristles and then tapped them over the Sweet Tooth panel.  I cut the circle with the Circle STAX 1 Die-Namics.

On the Kraft panel, I stamped "Happy Birthday" from First Class Friend.  I cut a banner, using the First Place Award Ribbon Die-Namics, out of Sour Apple Cardstock, and embossed in white, "Sorry for the late delivery".  LOVE that.  I popped it up with Jody Boosters.

Here are the MFT goodies I've used on this card:

  4. Love that last one, Jodi. They are all great CAS cards, but that is my favorite -- think I like the interest of the sentiment in the cutout and the pop of color.

As for embossing powder, funny you should ask -- I was just wondering the same thing as I pulled out some I swear I've had since the mid 90s and it just didn't seem to be working at all. I switched to a bottle I got maybe a year ago and it worked fine. So I am thinking it may go bad. I'm going to dump all my super old stuff and then buy new.
