June MFT Creative Challenge - Make It Masculine!

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!

It's time for the June MFT Creative Challenge!  The MFT Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product or technique.  This month, we are challenged to Make It Masculine, and create masculine cards!  This was quite a challenge for me, but oh, SO much fun too!

I have two cards to share with you today!  First up, I have a card that (I think) would be perfect for a teenage boy, or any guy that's really into music!  This was super fun to make.

I started by creating the tape using the Cassette Tape Die-Namics.  I cut two out of Black Licorice and them attached them with Jody Boosters so it is really dimensional.

In this shot you can see the dimension.  On the "sticker" portion of the cassette, I stamped the stamp in Steel Blue Ink and then stamped "It's Your Birthday", from Journal It Playlist in Orange Fizz Ink.  The background panel is Steel Blue and I stamped one of the patterns from Western Backgrounds in Steel Blue Ink.

I then added a Sour Apple panel and stamped it using the Mod Borders set in Sour Apple Ink.  Finally, I added a horizontal panel of Orange Fizz and stamped it repeatedly with the "You Rock" sentiment from Document It Rock On in Orange Fizz Ink.

I cut a guitar pick from Sour Apple Cardstock using the Accent It Rock and Roll Die-Namics and stamped "Born To Rock" in Steel Blue Ink.  I added a panel cut with the Mini Tabs Foursome underneath the horizontal panel and stamped it with "Rock On", also in Steel Blue Ink.

On the inside I added another Steel Blue panel stamped with Western  Backgrounds, and another Sour Apple panel stamped with Mod Borders.  I cut two circles with the Circle STAX 1 Die-Namics and Circle STAX 2 Die-Namics and stamped "Live Loud" in Steel Blue Ink.  SO fun!

Here are the MFT products I've used on my card:

For my second card, I went with a western theme.  I am so drawn to the Inspired By The Wild Wild West set, I just love it!  I stamped the image in Hot Fudge Ink onto a Kraft panel and cut it out, and layered it, with the Circle STAX 1 Die-Namics and Circle STAX 2 Die-Namics.

I used Western Backgrounds for both of the background panels...the Kraft panel was stamped with Kraft Ink and the Hot Fudge panel was stamped with Hot Fudge Ink.  I added Vintage Brads from my stash to each corner of the smaller square panel.

I used the Western Sentiments set to create the horizontal panel where I repeated "Happy Trails" in Hot Fudge Ink.  I added some Hemp Cord and a Hot Fudge Button.

On the inside, I stamped another stamp from Western Backgrounds in Kraft, and then stamped "Happy Birthday" in Hot Fudge Ink.

Here are the MFT products I've used on my card:

  11. So sad that kids nowadays won't get to know the joys of cassette tapes. LOL I can remember manually winding or rewinding with a pen when my walkman died. That takes me back!!
